Project Overview
The Wellness Keys is a family wellness app developed by PWH Tech Services for Dr. Adeola Chukwumah, a pharmacist and integrative health coach. It was built around one simple idea: most health apps track one person, but a family is more than one person. The Wellness Keys transforms family wellness into a two-minute daily habit, personalized to how each household truly eats, moves, sleeps, and handles stress. More than a tracker, it is a gentle daily companion that helps families build healthier routines together, without pressure or perfection. You can learn more about the brand on The Wellness Keys official website.
Goals & Challenges
Goals:
- Create a family wellness app that personalizes healthy habits for the whole household, not just one user.
- Help families discover their wellness style through a quick, engaging persona quiz.
- Make daily progress tracking fast and effortless with a two-minute check-in.
- Encourage consistency through supportive reminders and weekly insights instead of pressure.
Challenges:
- Translating a health coach’s methodology into a simple, structured digital experience.
- Personalizing habit suggestions across ten family wellness areas without overwhelming users.
- Designing motivation features that support progress while avoiding streak shaming and guilt.
Approach
Research & Discovery
- Worked closely with Dr. Chukwumah to understand her coaching framework and the real wellness struggles of busy families.
- Mapped how families eat, move, sleep, and manage stress to shape the quiz, personas, and habit library.
Design & Development
- Designed a warm, calming, and family-friendly interface that keeps every interaction short and encouraging.
- Built a ten-question quiz that assigns one of five Wellness Personas: Balance Achiever, Motivated Transformer, Curious Explorer, Stressed Juggler, or Wellness Seeker.
- Developed persona-matched habit suggestions, custom habit creation, and a quick daily check-in flow.
- Implemented weekly reports, optional morning, streak, and weekly reminders, and a 30-day quiz retake that preserves user history.
Final Solution: A Family Wellness App Built for Real Life
- A personalized wellness journey that begins with a quiz and turns results into a practical starting point, not a label.
- Smart habit suggestions matched to each persona across ten family wellness areas.
- A two-minute daily check-in that makes tracking healthy habits simple and sustainable.
- Weekly reports that celebrate wins and highlight two or three gentle focus areas for the week ahead.
- Flexible reminders and the freedom to add custom habits anytime.
- Every feature was crafted with empathy, helping families build a healthy rhythm that fits a real week.
Why The Wellness Keys Stands Out
Building a family wellness app means designing for real households, not ideal ones. Families are busy, schedules change, and motivation rises and falls. That is why The Wellness Keys focuses on small daily wins rather than strict goals. With no streak shaming and no demand for perfection, families feel encouraged to keep going even after a missed day. The ability to retake the quiz every 30 days ensures the experience grows with the family as life changes. Planning a health or wellness product of your own?
